It’s time to slay anxiety and walk in the freedom that God has for you every day.
Have you ever experienced or faced anxiety? If you have, you know it’s a place full of doubts, what ifs, and fear. We know that none of these things listed is what God gives us. Actually, it says in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” This is what He gives us and what we carry with us.
I have had two major times in my life where I’ve experienced crippling anxiety. The only thing that cured my anxiety was Jesus. I want to give you some spiritual weapons for slaying anxiety. Anyone, including you, can overcome anxiety and find peace in God.
If you haven’t believed it before, I’m here to tell you today, there is freedom and deliverance from anxiety for you through Jesus.
Worship is one of the most powerful weapons we have. Our voice is an instrument that we use in defeating the enemy. If you are facing fear and anxiety, find songs the declare the opposite of this. There are so many songs out there that you can sing over yourself.
In worshiping God you are declaring who He is and lifting Him high above anything you are facing. Worship is shifting our gaze from our problems to Jesus. It’s keeping our heart in posture of praise and setting our gaze on our Creator and Healer.
A few songs I recommend are “Nothing I Hold Onto” by United Pursuit, “PEACE” by Hillsong Worship Young & Free, and “Praise Before My Breakthrough” by Bryan & Katie Torwalt. These are just a few, but I encourage you to find your own.
Praying in Tongues
Praying in Tongues is also a weapon that we get to use against the enemy. We see in 1 Corinthians 12 that when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One of those gifts is the gifts of tongues.
Romans 8:26 ““Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
There have been many times I’ve felt anxiety trying to come on me or I’m unsure how to pray, I just start praying in tongues and the atmosphere changes.
Speaking scripture over your life, situation, and family is one of the most powerful things that you can do!
Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue has the power of life and death,”
Speaking truth over heart and mind is powerful. I encourage you to find scripture that declares hope, life, and identity, and you will see your mind and heart start to change and experience God’s freedom as you understand more about what He has for you. Here are a few you can start with:
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (I mentioned this one earlier).
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Put on the Armor
The last scripture I want to encourage you in is extremely important. Put on the armor of God!
Ephesians 6:10-18 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
