Today’s Bible verse gives us insight into the fear that we all face in our day to day lives. It is an obstacle that can stop us from truly living free in our destiny if we let it. If fear is stopping you from advancing into the plans that God has set up for you, you will have to confront your fear head-on. It’s the only way to continue walking in the fullness that God has for you. Today’s Bible verse is for you to use as a weapon to combat fear when you feel overwhelmed or like you want to give up. Hold onto God’s word and the Lord will fight for you through every battle of fear you face this season.
What does today’s Bible verse tell us?
In today’s Bible verse, God shows us that He has not given us the spirit of fear which means that the fear does not come from him. It also says in today’s bible verse we are given the spirit of power and of love and a sound mind. Anything less than love is not what God intended for us to live in. God shows us in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” Let God perfect you in love by being with Him and reading today’s verse over yourself. Let God’s truth become louder than other voices and receive His perfect love.
Combat the lies in your mind with truth
Like the verse today mentions, power and love and a sound mind, how do we continue with these in the face of resistance such as fear? Fear can become crippling if we let it bully us too long. You have to silence the lies that are screaming in your mind one lie at a time. This is vital to demolishing fear in your life! One of the ways to silence the lies the enemy throws at you is to exalt Jesus in your mind with the word of God. Exalt Jesus by standing on God’s truth and speaking the verse out loud if you need to. Another scripture to stand on alongside today’s verse is 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Today’s Bible verse reminds us who God is
Remember who God is and what he offers you. The only way David could defeat Goliath in the Bible is by REMEMBERING what God had done for him. David said, “The LORD who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine “(1 Samuel 17:37). In today’s Bible verse it shares about having God’s spirit of power. David’s strength and power clearly came from the Lord and from David setting his eyes on who God is and what He had done for him. This was the only way he knew he could defeat Goliath and save himself and his people.
As your meditating on today’s verse, 2 Timothy 1:7, remind yourself of the things God has done in your life. Remember all the victories you have seen throughout your life. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). This scripture reveals that the testimony of Jesus in your life can be a prophetic declaration to what Jesus will do again in your life! Declare today’s verse and all the things God has done for you to build faith in your heart to overcome every other voice. Christian Author, Kris Vallotton explains the victory that lies on the other side of our fear.
“What we believe to be our most fearful stumbling block is actually the door to our greatest victory.”
Remind yourself of who God calls you
Lastly, combat fear by remembering who you are and whose you are just like it says in today’s Bible verse! David was considered a shepherd boy to so many during the time before he defeated Goliath. Luckily David knew who he was when it came time to face his giant. God has prepared you for such a time as this (Esther 4:14) and it’s your time to rise up and be the son and daughter God calls you to be. Fear has no hold on your life when you remember that you are loved and that God is on your side. Take today’s Bible verse and use it as fuel to the fire God is burning inside you. God’s spirit in you is more powerful than any fear!
