There’s Nothing Greater, than Hearing from God. Trust in the Lord

There’s Nothing Greater, than Hearing from God. Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

This is a very well known, somewhat cliché passage yet we must never forget the power and intent of it. At times, I think we do.

Timing is EVERYTHING

There is nothing greater, than hearing from God. Nothing greater than knowing you’ve heard His voice and He has spoken to you about a situation in your life. Nothing greater than having that promise straight from the Lord.

The problem is not “hearing” the Word. The problem is not “receiving” the promise from it. The problem is the process in between the promise and the provision of the promise.

Do you know how to get through the process, while waiting on the promise? Do you know how to stand (still) in the process? (Psalm 46:10)  If you don’t know how to get to the process, the next few days, weeks, months, or even years, may be difficult.

Remember the woman with the issue of blood, was that way for over 12 years (Luke 8). How about the man at the pool of Bethesda, who was coming there for 38 years (John 5). Miracles may come, but not overnight, or not always. This is learning to trust God.

Recognize what hinders you

So what hinders blessings? If God has spoken to you. Why haven’t you seen the results? One thing, I tell people, is to be patient. Remember, you are not the only one involved in the plans He has for your life. There are things that have to be moved around on your “chessboard” of life.

There are other, obvious reasons that can hold back blessings. Here is a short list: doubt, worry, fear, unbelief and complaining, amongst others, can slow down the process. Even if they doesn’t slow the process they can sure make it feel like things are moving slower.

Read the Word for strength

When we are waiting on God to meet our needs. One of the greatest things we can do, is read the Bible. When we dig into the scriptures, we can gain great insight, and great strength from God’s Word.

In Exodus 14, God delivered His people out of Egypt, but He did not tell them He would be bring their enemy close behind. He did not tell them He needed to do this to destroy them. So, they begin to complain to Moses. Saying things like, “Did You just bring us out here because there weren’t enough graves in Egypt? Or “Didn’t we tell you to leave us alone because it would be better to serve the Egyptians, than to die out here?”

Yet we know God had a plan to free them and deliver them from oppression. We know also how much trouble came from that day onward, because of their murmuring, complaining, which were signs of doubt, unbelief, etc.  These stories teach us that God is always working on His plan for us. We don’t have to go through times, like that nor would we want to!

God has GREAT plans

Jeremiah 29:11: “I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.

God has a great plans, but it can become a problem, if we think we know how it ought to go. We forget God has thoughts, that are not our thoughts, and His ways, are not our ways. (Isaiah 55)  Don’t limit God because you’ve never been there before and don’t know what to expect.

He is always doing new things to bring us higher. Things that will bring us closer. (Deuteronomy 11)  In the right time, He WILL come through. He will reveal it to you. Don’t give up in the process. You just have to trust Him, and wait in faith, without doubt.  (Hebrews 11:6)  Again, He WILL come through.
