Favor – Favor is like grace in that it is an advantage that is far beyond what you could have ever dreamed of. It is when God or a person takes an opportunity and says, “I choose you.”
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 (NIV)
Here are two ways you can win favor from both God and Men:
1. Love
Proverbs 3:3 tells us “Let love and faithfulness never leave you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”
So what is love? Who is love? And why is love something that we never want to depart from?
Love is an intense feeling of deep affection; it is something that people desire to have and feel in their life. Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the church in Corinth saying, “without love people are nothing.”
Let’s look more at what the Word says about love and it’s benefits!
“Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others. It is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
“And now these three things remain; faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Love is not only a way of life, but love is a person. God is love. Jesus Christ came to show us exactly what it looks like to walk like Him and live like Him. Above all, we must rely on the Love of God, because He is the one who loved us first and we cannot give love if we don’t have Him. It is only in Him that we can be transformed. – He turns our weakness into a blessing.
Let us continue to do everything in love because it is love that binds us together in perfect harmony.
2. Faithfulness
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart”
Provers 28:20 says that Faithfulness is the key to God’s blessing.
Being faithful requires conscious effort. It is an important virtue, but unfortunately, nowadays faithfulness has become a rare quality. But being faithful brings blessing – a blessing in which only God can give.
When people are faithful to one another, striving ceases and love abounds. People have loyalty towards one another. Faithfulness means showing up, time and time again, and giving God and people your best effort in connection and in doing the right thing for the relationship.
Both love and faithfulness are such important qualities in a healthy and functioning Christian. Love and faithfulness come together, so if you want to win approval from God and man, then show them your love and faithfulness.
And if you know that you’ve dropped the ball in either of these areas – it’s OK! Tomorrow is a new day with new mercies. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and be transformed in his presence.
