Each year a Bible Reading Marathon takes place in the US capital Washington, DC just before the National Day of Prayer in May, where volunteers read the entire Bible in front of the nation’s Capitol Building. They read from Genesis to Revelation, without commentary for 90 hours straight, regardless of the weather, and time of day.
Reading the entire Bible
Around 400 people have participated in the US Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, and are able to choose from over 100 Bible translations, including in Farsi, Russian and Chinese, according to CBN. People who walk by are also welcome to read a portion of scripture.
Several legislators have also participated, including Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) of Texas. The event takes place on the west terrace of the Capitol steps.
According to the US Capitol Bible Reading Marathon site, the Bible is at the heart of America’s founding principles and it should be voiced at the heart of their Federal Government, urging the nation to return to God’s precepts.
About the Bible Reading Marathon
Dr John Hash and Dr Corinthia Boone founded the Bible Reading Marathon in 1990. It is led presently by the founder and director of Seedline International, Keith Davidson. Seedline International is a ministry that focuses on producing and distributing Bibles throughout the world.
The Bible Reading Marathon ends on the same day the National Day of Prayer (NDOP) begins, when people meet all across the USA and in the Capitol Building to pray for their country.
The Bible Reading Marathon is an amazing and brave act of Christians who stand their ground of what God is saying. It is a call for all Americans to follow the ‘Golden Rule.’
The Word of the Lord is true and there is no lies in it. Those who follow it are safe from destruction.
