Kindness is a trait of the Christian faith that we most often tend to neglect and forget to cultivate. Through time spent with the Lord and reading his Word we learn how important kindness is for not only our lives, but for impacting the lives of others around us.

Most famously known for her role as one of the stars of “Full House”, Candace Cameron Bure has always been outspoken about her faith and love for Christ whenever given the chance. Most recently, Bure took the opportunity to share her favorite Bible verses on kindness in a video for Bible Gateway.

“I want to share with you just a few of the many verses in the Bible that talk about kindness – and it brings me such joy. I’m just loving it and I can’t get enough of it,” Bure shares at the beginning of the video.

For the first of her three chose Bible verses Bure began reading 2 Corinthians 12:9 which says:

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Bure went on to explain that she turns to this reminder of “God’s kindness” and his power to help get her get through the days when she feels overwhelmed.

The second Bible verse that Bure chose to share comes from Ephesians 4:32 in which Paul writes:

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.”

Showing a Christ-like kindness to everyone should be something that we do without even having to think about it. Bure points out that our kindness comes out of the recognition that we can forgive others for their faults “because God forgave all of us.”

The final verse that Bure chose to share was Galatians 5:22-26 for its description of the fruits of the Spirit. The verse says:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”

Spreading the gospel of kindness wherever she goes is a very personal mission for Bure. This past April she released her book titled, “Kind is the New Classy: the Power of Living Graciously.” It is her hope that through her book kindness will be put into the forefront of every conversation.

“You’d think it should be simple. It is simple to be nice, but it does take more effort than being mean,” Bure shared in an interview with Mike Huckabee. “I think that’s why it feels counter-cultural. I think more people tend to be angry. So I want to put the spotlight back on kindness.”
