The obedience of believers to the Great Commission of Jesus hasn’t stopped for over 2,000 years.  Water Mission is one organization that is actively spreading the Gospel through sports.

Safe Water For Communities

Water Mission is a Christian nonprofit organization helping communities to have safe water. Its mission to the community is driven by its faith in Jesus to spread the Gospel. According to Sports Spectrum, Water Mission “hosts community events around the world to share the importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions.”

In Mexico, the safe water charity has partnered with sports to be more effective in their mission. The project manager, Kevin Herr, further stressed the significance of relationships in the program.

“It all comes down to the people that we’re working with,” Kevin pointed out. “Finding people that are passionate about serving their communities and making a difference.”

Sports Evangelism

The Water Mission in Mexico also partners with different events with various demographics to reach more people in communities.

“When I was in Mexico in December, the team had a basketball tournament,” he added. “The goal is always to get different segments of the community together. You’re not going to get the same people at the superhero clown show as the young men that are going to come out for sports.”

The organization finds sports evangelism “as an effective way to build community.” Hence, Water Mission continues to strengthen such efforts. Because it does not only make people come together for its engaging activities, it also “provides opportunities to share the Gospel.”

Through Water Mission’s community-building efforts, many people have come to hear the Good News in Jesus Christ. And their mission continues, especially in Mexico, as they regularly engage in the country’s sports events. Including “soccer tournaments, along with basketball and baseball games.”

It’s amazing how the Christian program has been helping many people receive safe water. And at the same time, leading to a spiritual transformation through their Savior Jesus Christ.
