James 5:16-18 declares, “…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
Never underestimate the power of your prayers. Prayer is a powerful weapon given to us by our Heavenly Father, God, to see His will done in our lives. We are God’s conduits for His done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Getting to see our answered prayer manifested is full of beauty and of the faithfulness of God. It’s a sight that is full of celebration and God’s love.
Sometimes our answered prayer wasn’t answered as timely or as we expected it to be. I believe in order to see answered prayer in our lives, we as co-heirs of Christ have the responsibility to contend with God. God is one that doesn’t give up so we shouldn’t either. We simply get to believe in our hearts that God is who He says He is and open our mouths and pray.
We are God’s handiwork, instruments of righteousness to help God’s people in a time of need. God finds it a joy to answer our prayers and our prayers for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We will see God’s will be done through prayer, perseverance, and obedience. Whatever longing or burden God has placed on your heart to pray, don’t give up and contend for your breakthrough! Know that God is faithful and you will see your answered prayer.
Answered Prayer: Breakthrough
We see the great giants of faith in the Bible show a picture of some of the greatest exploits done for the Kingdom of God. However, it did not come easy for these Bible heroes, it took perseverance and contending through prayer. Sometimes prayer looks like simply talking to God and asking Him what to do or where to go. It could look like bearing your soul in front of our Holy God. Hannah in the bible is a great example of this. She was distressed because she could not bear a son but longed to. She contended in prayer with God while pouring her heart out and made a vow to God. Hannah’s answered prayer was seen when she bore a son, Samuel.
Answered Prayer: Heroes in Faith
We also see heroes in the faith like Billy Graham and Kathryn Kuhlman. We sometimes fail to realize what great trials they had to overcome through prayer. Billy Graham had to overcome many doubts he had about the Bible and Kathryn overcame an anti-Christ spirit that tried to keep her down. Prayer was a huge part of these victories.
When we contend for breakthrough through prayer, we contend to take hold of our inheritance and see the inheritance of others unlocked. No situation or person could ever get in the way of God’s plans and purposes. Sometimes the only thing getting in the way is our delay to pray. God is waiting to release His blessings over us! He wants to show answered prayer as much as we want answered prayer. If we as Christians truly knew how powerful and willing our God was, we would be running to God in prayer every single day, contending for His will to be done.
Resting in Victory
God knew the trouble we would face and prepared us to take hold of His fullness of life. Everything that the enemy meant for harm, God will use for good (see Genesis 50:20). He has an answer to restore us and redeem us. We may not see our answered prayer with our physical eyes yet, but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t deposited. We can rest in the fact that “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
God always has an escape because He loves us and pours out His mercy and grace as we come to Him. Resting in victory looks like resting in Jesus, knowing He is the faithful one. Everything was finished on the cross and now we access the fullness of that here on Earth, today! Don’t waste what Jesus did for you, receive and rest in every last blessing of God that He so greatly gave us.
Answered Prayer: God Hears Us
No matter how long it takes to see your answered prayer manifested, know that God hears you and delights in answering your prayers. You have permission to come boldly before God in your time of need and he will answer you. There are spirits and principalities that we fight against so it’s important that we keep fighting the good fight and sometimes it’s a long one.
It says in Proverbs 15: 29 that the LORD “hears the prayer of the righteous.” God longs for us to take hold of ALL His promises for our lives. He longs for us to walk in health, abundance, joy, peace, and love. Prayer is a powerful tool to see the glory of God manifest in our everyday lives. Open your mouth, declare, and pray while you give God access to overflow your life with His blessings. Take hold of your great inheritance!
